BAAPS Audit Reveals Shifting Trends in Cosmetic Surgery Demand

The latest annual audit published by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) has revealed a 2% overall decline in aesthetic surgical procedures across the UK, while eyelid surgery, facelifts and brow lift operations recorded notable growth.
Prepared using data collected from 237 specialist surgeons, the “BAAPS Audit 2024–2025” highlights changing patient preferences within the cosmetic surgery sector. According to the report, a total of 26,840 surgical procedures were performed in 2025, representing a 2% decrease compared to the previous year.
Women accounted for 93.9% of all aesthetic procedures, while men represented 6.1% of total patients.
Breast Augmentation Remains the Most Popular Procedure
Breast augmentation once again ranked as the UK’s most requested cosmetic surgery procedure in 2025. However, demand for the operation declined by 8% year-on-year, with a total of 4,761 procedures performed. Breast reduction surgery followed closely behind with 4,673 operations.
One of the most significant increases was seen in eyelid surgery procedures. Blepharoplasty operations rose by 8% to reach 3,381 cases. Face and neck lift surgeries also recorded strong growth, increasing by 11% to 2,097 procedures. Brow lift operations showed one of the sharpest rises in the report, climbing by 27%.
Rhinoplasty and Body Contouring Procedures See Sharp Declines
According to the audit, rhinoplasty procedures experienced a significant downturn in 2025. Nose reshaping surgeries dropped by 18%, falling to 1,595 operations. Liposuction procedures declined by 6%, while fat transfer surgeries fell by 4%.
A particularly notable decrease was recorded in superficial gluteal lipofilling procedures, commonly associated with Brazilian Butt Lift-style fat transfer techniques. These procedures fell by 38% compared to the previous year.
Non-Surgical Treatments Also Declined
The report also revealed a downturn in non-surgical aesthetic treatments, including Botox and dermal fillers. Botox procedures fell from 6,784 to 5,606, while filler treatments declined from 3,023 to 2,228. Overall non-surgical procedures dropped from 9,807 to 7,834.
Industry experts suggest that patients are increasingly favouring more natural-looking aesthetic outcomes, with facial rejuvenation procedures continuing to gain popularity over more dramatic cosmetic interventions.
